Art of Deception is a metal/rock/alternative band from the Central West
of NSW. All 4 members of the band hail themselves from different genres
of music (predominately metal) and have come together with the idea of
creating a truly unique metal monster.

The band was originally formed in 2006 by Billy and Brett
Tanos, and Chris Anderson under the name of Ashes in the Envelope. AITE
competed in the local Battle of the bands competition and achieved
modest acclaim. A change in vision and direction saw the band evolve
with the change of name and line-up. Vocal duties were filled by Ged
Mitchell before being taken onboard by Phil Costello.
In 2007, ex-Telemakaya/Half Naked moon guitarist and keyboardist
Kane Strangwidge joined to help add to the sonic dimensions of the
bands ambitous sound and direction.

The band now remains a four piece after the departure of vocalist Phil Costello.

Songwriting focus shifted naturally towards progressive,
cross-genre metal/rock due to the varied taste of the band members and
the desire and ambition to be not just another metal band
