In an age where music can sometimes be nothing more than an accessory to the latest fashion trends, comes a band that plays straight up, no bullshit, rock n roll. This is A Delayed Reaction...
Hailing from Australia’s party capital, the Gold Coast, the band started out as a five-piece in 2003 with most members knowing each other from high-school. They all shared a common love for punk music such as Strung-Out, Lagwagon and Pennywise and played a handful of shows as simply ‘Delayed Reaction’. The band soon lost one of their guitarists and continued on as a four piece with Ben France – Vocals, Jake Tredwell – Guitar, Shaun Fraser – Bass and Justin Phillips – Drums. The band started playing more regular shows around the South-East Qld region including a support for U.S. punk legends Pulley. After recording their first demo CD the band felt the need to again hire a second guitarist and hooked up with another high school friend in the form of ex-Siklik guitarist Ricky. T. The band added and ‘A’ to the beginning of their name and the final ADR line-up was complete.
Since then, A Delayed Reaction’s sound has become progressively heavier by combining elements of metal, hardcore and rock and roll all while staying true to their punk rock roots. The band are known for their intense and energetic live shows and has seen them support Australia and the Worlds best including No Use for a Name, Pulley, Bodyjar, A Secret Death, Ink, Kisschasy, Lynchmada and King Mungi to name a few.
In early 2007 A Delayed Reaction started recording their Debut EP with renowned Gold Coast producer Drew Parsons (Lynchmada, A Secret Death, King Mungi) at Bloodstock Studios G.C. The EP was recorded over several sessions during 2007 and will finally see the light of day in 2008. The five track E.P. will be released in March through Rabbitbird Records and distributed nationally via Green Media Distribution. The band plan on touring extensively during 2008 to promote the E.P. as well as writing new material for the next record.
